Disassembly Of Pegasus Faucet

The following simple steps will help dry up the problem of a leaky compression or stem-type disassembly of Pegasus faucet.

  • Turn off the water at the water-supply valve. You can find them usually under the sink. Sometimes, you can also find them in the wall behind the shower assembly. There, you can find them in a closet behind a removable panel.
  • However, if there are no localized shutoffs for the disassembly of Pegasus faucet, you should use the main water shutoff for the building.
  • Now, open the faucets to let water in the lines drain before beginning the disassembly of Pegasus faucet.
  • Once you are through with that, remove the faucet handle. You can do this by removing the screw and then lifting or jiggling the handle off.
  • Now, loosen the locknut inside with a crescent wrench. Once the nut is loosened and removed, pull out the stem.
  • With some types of Pegasus faucets, the stem itself may be threaded into the body of the faucet assembly. In that case, you will have to turn it counter-clockwise to loosen and remove the same.
  • For the disassembly of Pegasus faucet, now, replace with a new washer. Take the stem to your local hardware or plumbing supply store and pick out the proper-fitting replacement washer.
  • Reassemble the stem and Pegasus faucet assembly in reverse order
  • Turn the water supply back on and test for drips.

As you can see, it is not that difficult. However, you must make sure that yopu are following the above steps with proper care.

Choosing A Kitchen Faucet

These days, kitchen faucets do not only serve as a basic, functional piece in the kitchen. With all the shapes, sizes, designs, and finishes available in the market, they now become a factor in setting the style of your kitchen.

Whether your kitchen has a classic country design or an ultra modern architecture, there is a faucet available to exactly fit the atmosphere you wish to create.

Here are some considerations that you need to think about when choosing a new kitchen faucet:

  1. First and foremost, choose a faucet that matches your sink's faucet connection. Then, check how many mounting holes your kitchen sink or your counter top has. Make sure you choose a faucet that will be easy to operate when mounted into the sink. Choose one that is just the right size relative to your sink.
  2. There are a wide variety of sink faucet materials in the market. Whether it is brass or polished, made of copper, stainless steel, or chrome, the kitchen faucet body must be durable, heavy-weight, maintenance-free, suitable to your kitchen theme, and should not corrode or discolor. Faucets made of brass are very resistant to adverse conditions, while chrome-plated ones are most affordable. It is important that you go for durability - your faucet should last a very long time without dripping. Thus, try to choose one that is of best quality and fits your budget just right.
  3. The handle and the spout usually determine the style of kitchen faucets. Faucets can have single or two handles. Single handled faucets are quite convenient when it comes to control of water temperature and volume. Double-handled one, on the other hand, allows the precise flow and temperature adjustment as it has separate cold and hot controls. It can also be more stylish than the former. There are also three different spout styles to choose from. There are those that have pull down or pull-out sprays, those that have side sprays and those that don't. Imagine what you usually use kitchen faucets for and choose one based on your needs. There are also wall-mount faucets that require no deck holes, pot filler faucets that can be mounted near the stove, as well as bar or entertainment faucets that can be added to other areas in the kitchen.
  4. The fourth factor that you should determine is the spout height and reach. Standard arch faucets are usually 3-5 inches high and are best for smaller to average-sized sinks and for everyday use. High arch faucets are usually 6-8 or even 10 inches high for washing pots and oversized kitchen wares. Also, you should make sure that your spout reach is compatible with the sink size and the number of bowls or dishes you anticipate to wash. Whatever the spout reach you choose is, make sure that it directs water directly into the center of the bowl. If your sink is the double-bowl type, choose one that can reach both areas.
  5. Lastly, find out what other additional accessories you will need in your kitchen such as water filters, hot water dispensers, or soap dispensers. You would need one or more extra holes in your sink for these accessories. With all the types of faucets available, it can get very confusing and overwhelming to choose one that will fit your kitchen. You do not only choose based on aesthetics and budget, but more importantly, on your current and future needs.

Sales Tip-Turn on the Faucet of Success

I read an interesting story over the weekend. It involved the ingredients in water. As we all (?) remember from our school days, water is made up of H2O, or two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. Take away any of the ingredients and you may get something, but it certainly isn't water. Maybe you actually have all the ingredients just not the right amount, you still won't get water.

Your successful sales system is exactly the same. It is made up of several parts. There's the mental part that includes attitude, confidence, etc., tools, and the strategies to use those tools and action. While you may come up with other ingredients, I believe that most, if not all would fall under into of these categories. Unfortunately, take away any one of these ingredients, or put in the wrong amount and much like the water example, you may have something, (just getting by, mediocrity, futility, frustration, etc.) but you don't have a truly successful sales career.

Sometimes, it can be a small change. Sometimes it takes a complete overhaul of what you are doing. The point is, until you get the correct ingredients and the correct amount of each, you will continue to struggle. It doesn't matter how hard you work at it, how hard you try, or how many times you do it, mixing together one part hydrogen and one part oxygen will not produce what you are after. When you don't have the correct ingredients, you cannot get the correct results. It's that simple.

If you want to quench your thirst, you can keep trying different combinations and then hoping that at some point in the future you will in fact hit on just the right combination. It can take thousands of tries and years of trial and error to even get close to success. And it makes no sense when you can simply get up, take some action and turn on the faucet. Seems like a simple decision and it is.

However, when it comes to your sales career, you are content to continue as you are or perhaps try to patch things together with a tool from here or a strategy from there. Yet, if you would only get up and turn on the faucet, you could skip the trial and error, the frustration, the futility, the mediocrity and have more success than you ever thought possible.

It's up to you. What will it be? The faucet or the frustration?

Faucet Water Purifier-Improve Your Health With The Aid Of The Right Purifier System

Believe it or not, a faucet water purifier is easier to install than you think. In fact, often times you can get them set up without using any tools whatsoever.

In order to maker user that your home contains good safe, chemical free drinking water, a faucet water purifier is the way to go. These machines are less expensive than cartridge filtration systems, and yet still work very well at eliminating the harmful chemicals from your water supply.

The only installation step you must take is to unscrew your aerator on your sink and hook up the filter. Usually, it will simply screw on.

Many people don’t want to use a faucet water purifier because it tends to lower the water pressure, forcing you to wait longer when getting a drink or washing your hands. While in fact they often do lessen the water pressure, this is a minor inconvenience to pay to achieve optimum health.

Nowadays, it is more necessary than ever to have a faucet water purifier in your home. It is crucial that your drinking water be safe and chemical free before drinking.

The reason for this is that there are currently over 140 harmful chemicals in most US cities water supplies that the EPA has unaccounted for. Also, there are no plans in the near future to eliminate these.

Now, there are many different methods of filtration, too many to go into here. However, some of the more popular methods include reverse osmosis, ionization, carbon absorption, ultraviolet radiation, etc. All of these methods are generally effective at removing the chemicals, although some more so than others. In order to find the right one, you will need to do your research and decide for yourself which is best.

How do you go about doing your research? The best place to start, of course, is with friends or family who already own and are currently using a water purifier for their home. Generally speaking, these people will be health conscious and have already done their research before making their purchase.

This will save you a big step in the process. There is a lot of information out there about what the best faucet water purifier is, and finding someone who already has cut through the clutter and found the best filter is obviously better than having to do so yourself.

If, however, you don’t know of someone who owns a faucet water purifier, do research on the internet. There has never been a better time to be alive than the modern day, because any information you need about nearly every subject is available at the click of a button. Be careful which sites you look at, however.

Many sites that appeared to be unbiased in their reviews are actually simply promoting a particular companies’ product. Therefore, be very leery of who you get your information from.

When it comes time to make your purchase, also check online before going to your local retail stores. Often times you can find better deals on the internet than you’d ever find offline.

The bottom line: you need to do your due diligence, and find the best faucet water purifier system for your home. It is a minor investment, but your health is well worth the money.

Selecting the Right Kitchen Faucet for Your Sink

Today’s “must have” kitchen upgrade is the kitchen faucet. Faucets have been revolutionized to be the “star” of the kitchen. Manufacturers have made faucets more stylish and versatile than ever, while keeping the needed functionality consumers demand.

Kitchen faucets come in a variety of styles, finishes, shapes, and sizes. Options include sprayers, matching soap dispensers, hot water dispensers, and escutcheons/ deckplates. Each of these options requires a separate mounting hole. The most important thing to know before buying a kitchen faucet is knowing the type of sink that the faucet will be used with:

  • The style of the sink. Are you matching the sink color?
  • Does your sink have 3 or 4 mounting holes?
  • What is the the space between the holes?
  • Is the faucet spout long enough to reach the center of the bowl? Size the faucet to complement the sink, not overwhelm it.
  • Do you have extra mounting holes for desired accessories: soap and/or lotion dispenser, sprayer, hot water dispenser, etc.?
Faucets today have many finish options available to suit any décor. Some options include; chrome, polished brass, chrome/brass, brushed nickel, satin nickel, French gold, brushed chrome, oil rubbed bronze, weathered copper, French bronze, pewter, white, almond, biscuit, satine, and platinum.

One of the most important things to remember about finishes is that each manufacturer’s finishing process is different, and the color will vary slightly. To ensure that all the faucets and accessories match, buy them from the same manufacturer. Most manufacturers have made choosing easy by offering beautiful collections of related kitchen accessories such as, soap dispensers, cutting boards and bottom grid racks.

Kitchen Faucet Buying Guide

Kitchen faucets don’t just serve as a functional piece of the kitchen. Today, they set the style with shapes, sizes, designs and finishes to fit any décor. Whether you are looking for classic country or ultra modern, there's a faucet design to fit your style. Below are considerations to make when choosing a new kitchen faucet.

1) How many holes does your sink have?

One of the most important questions when buying a new kitchen faucet is how many holes are in your existing sink or counter top.

2) What handle options do you prefer?

Two Handle Faucets - Provides precise temperature and water flow adjustment, with separate hot and cold controls, utilizing 3 or more holes of a sink or countertop. This is a great style to consider if you’re creating a traditional or period-style kitchen.

Single Handle Faucets - Allow for quick and easy water flow and temperature adjustments with one hand, which is helpful when your hands are occupied. Single Handle Faucets are generally compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements. This design requires 1 or more holes depending on layout and styles range from traditional to modern. Most models are available with or without side sprays.

Wall-Mount Faucets - A unique style that requires no deck holes as the faucet actually mounts to the wall above the sink. This design does require water supplies that extend above the countertop in the wall. This is a great option if you’re looking for an antique style kitchen.

Pull-Out or Integral Spray Faucets - A great mix of style and functionality, the faucet head pulls out and with a touch of a button the water pattern switches from regular flow to spray. This design requires 1 or more holes depending on the handle configuration and number of accessories, creating a clean style that lends itself to a contemporary or transitional look.

Pot Filler Faucets - A “must have” for an avid cook. This cold water faucet is installed in addition to a regular kitchen faucet and mounts on the wall behind a stove or on a countertop near the stove. It is used to fill a pot that is already positioned on the stovetop. This faucet comes in a wide array of designs including single or dual handles, long or gooseneck swivel spouts.

Bar Sink/Entertainment/Prep Faucets - Compared to a regular kitchen faucet, bar faucets are simply smaller in order to work with the bar/prep sinks they are intended to be used with. A great addition to any room, these faucets come in a variety of styles and designs utilizing 1-3 holes. When used in a kitchen application they are often “matched” to the same style as the larger kitchen sink faucet.

3) What Spout Height and Reach Do You Want?

Standard Arch - Faucet spout is generally 3-5 inches high and are best for smaller sinks and everyday pots, pans and dishes.

High Arch - Provides plenty of room between the bottom of the sink and the spout to conveniently wash large pots or oversized dishes. High arch faucets start are 6 inches, but most are 8-10 inches high.

Spout Reach - Another important factor in deciding which faucet is best is the number of bowls you have and the overall size of the sink. The faucet should direct water into the center of the sink, a small faucet can get lost on a large sink and a large faucet can overpower a small sink. Most faucet have a reach that ranges from 7½” to 10”. If you have a double bowl sink, be sure to choose a faucet that can reach both bowls.

4) What Additional Accessories Will You Need?

There are a number of handy kitchen accessories that can be used in empty holes in your sink. If you have one or more extra holes, consider a hot water dispenser, filtered water dispenser, soap dispenser or side spray.

A wide selecton of quality kitchen sinks can be found at http://www.faucet.com. Call and speak with one of our product specialists to find the right kitchen sink for you!

Dealing With The Leaking Bathtub Faucet

Drip, drip, drip. A leaky bathtub faucet is a common problem in many homes. If you have one, the good news is they are usually fairly simple to take care of.

The repair of leaky faucets is another often minor plumbing job that can be done by yourself with a minimum of effort and with no special tools. Although this may be true, it is an extremely important job. A single pinhole leak in a water pipe can waste up to 70 gallons of water per day. A badly leaking faucet can waste even more. This is a serious environmental issue today. There are some who claim that the very population levels of the world are depending on the supply of potable water. And we are already running behind.

There are two major types of faucets. The most common one in older homes is called the compression faucet. This faucet uses a rubber washer that is compressed when the valve is closed. The compressed washer expands and seals off the water flow. This process is hard on the washer and after a time they will wear out and need to be replaced.

When you go to replace the washer, you must first shut off the water supply to the faucet. Sometimes it is possible to do this at a more local spot close to the faucet, but other times it is necessary to shut off the main water supply to the home to isolate the faucet. It is a good idea to protect the enamel of the bathtub with towels to protect it from chips from dropped tools. Another good preparation idea is to cover drains to prevent small pieces from being dropped into them.

When you take apart the faucet to get to the washer, make diagrams or notes of exactly how you do so. This will make it easier to put it back together. Normally, the replacement of the washer will solve the leak problem. Keep spare washers handy in your tool box. You will need them again before long.

The newer type of faucet is called a washer less faucet. The name tells it all. The valve opens and shuts by an actual physical closing of the valve. You can usually tell if your faucet is compression or washer less just by feel. A compression faucet needs to be tightened to get it closed. The washer less faucet glides easily into place and does not need additional pressure to cut off the flow. There are fewer problems with leaking on washer less faucets. They tend to be either working or not. When they wear out, or do not operate properly, they should be replaced.

How To Fix That Leaky Bathtub Faucet - Fast!

Fixing a leaky bathtub faucet - or any other leaky faucet for that matter - can be an expensive job - UNLESS you can do it yourself!

In this article we want to look at the most common reason for a leaky faucet and show you how to fix it quickly and cheaply.

Preparation

It almost goes without saying that you should turn the water off first! Where to find the handle that does that? Just look under your sink and see where the pipes run. Somewhere along their length you will see either a handle or a wheel you can use to shut the mains supply off. In nearly every case you will need to turn it clockwise to shut.

One other preparation is to block the sink drain - just to prevent a nasty accident with something loose (like a screw or a small nut) disappearing down the drain never to be seen again. Use the plug you normally use, or put some cloth into the aperture. No good being wise after the event!

And - even though it goes without saying - make sure you have bought a replacement washer (or two) from the local hardware store - you don't want to be looking for that when you have the faucet in pieces do you!

Action

Locate the screw that is holding the handle of the faucet in place (it may be hidden behind a small plate or cover and that cover needs to be prised off using a small screwdriver or similar). Then undo the screw.

The next job is to get the handles off. Use a screwdriver to do this - you might need to use a little bit of force to prise it but it will come.

Now you will see the old washer (don't worry if not, we will put one in place anyway). Take off the old washer and replace with the new. Notice that the hole in the washer should just be a touch bigger than the central post that the handle turns.

Now retighten the handle, but only hand tight i.e. only until it stops turning without extra force needing to be applied.

Next, turn on the water again and see what happens! If there's no leak you're home and dry (excuse the pun!). If it still leaks, try tightening the handle a little more.

If it still leaks after that- then the problem is elsewhere and you'll need to get a plumber after all. But al least it was worth a try!

(And by the way - if you notice a big build up of lime around the handle - clean that off with a special removal product from your hardware store - it will pay you in the long run).

Things needed

A screwdriver or two - maybe one flathead and one Phillips or cross-screw. Also two washers (maybe take the old one off ahead of your visit to the store to be sure of getting the right one, or just buy a pack of mixed washers - not an expensive buy).

Tips On How Buy A Bathroom Faucet

If you want to change the look of your bathroom but you don’t have a lot of money, you can do so relatively inexpensively by replacing your sink and faucet. You’ll have lots of choices on the market, many of which are “retro” and look like the faucets in your grandmother’s bathroom. You can also choose from modern-looking chrome faucets or fancy brass fixtures. You can also still buy the old-fashioned crystal-headed faucets with the snub nosed spout. If you’re so inclined, you can buy the old-fashioned key-shaped faucet handles and can choose from porcelain, brass or brushed chrome finish.

It might surprise and please you to know as well that many of today’s faucets are actually multifunctional units that can convert to showerheads or split into separate streams. You can choose from many functions and can even have multiple functions, if you so choose.

Like just about anything else, bathroom faucets run the gamut in terms of price. You can choose from simple and relatively inexpensive to fancy and quite a lot more expensive. Some things to consider before you buy a bathroom faucet include:

What type of handle do you want on your faucets? Single handled faucets rotate to handle all water temperatures from one spigot. You can also buy faucets and handles separately and make your own unique combination. However, if you do this, you have to make sure that the faucet and faucet handles will fit each other.

Next, what style of bathroom faucet will look best in your bathroom? There are hundreds of styles available, anything from antique to modern, and if you so choose, you can even buy 1970s-style faucets. Believe it or not, you can also buy stone faucets that “spit” water out of the wall or those that look like statues from Rome. However, remember that the more complicated your style is, the harder the bathroom faucet will be to install. It will also probably be a lot more expensive than a simpler one.

Next, do you want your bathtub and shower faucets to match those in your sink? Some people don’t consider this important, but it might make your bathroom appear to have a more uniform design if that’s what you’re going for.

Finally, what do you want the bathroom faucet to be made of? They are available in porcelain, chrome, brass, nickel, plastic or even stone. Some creative designers have even made bathroom faucet spouts out of seashells.

Whatever you decide, there are plenty of choices out there available for you to pick something that exactly fits your lifestyle, budget and needs.
